Almost mid-season review

30 May 2014 by Corey Ellis

On behalf of the club I’d like to apologise for the forfeit of the 2’s match this week. With better organisation and communication this could have been avoided.

I think this stems from an ordinary period for the club over the last few weeks. Numbers have been down game day which is something that we can’t control. This is something we have been able to manage a number of times over the last few years since the decision to field a second side. Area of concern is what appears to be the level of commitment towards training from our players.

What doesn’t go unnoticed is, it is the same blokes week in and week out who turn up to training and to be fair these blokes are 2’s players and these blokes are the same blokes that don’t get a game this week. These are the blokes who more often than not will stick around to watch the 1’s game if double header home or away, or come back to the 1’s game wherever it is to show support. In just about all 1’s matches it is a twos player, often one who has played earlier, who runs the lines. I can’t remember the last time besides Tom B or Brett or Griz who has assisted in any capacity from the 1’s in a 2’s game. Just being down there to watch on some occasions surely isn’t too much to ask. Fair?? Happy to discuss..

We market this club as a casual club, it’s what we call ourselves, but we are a club and a team and we should not take it for granted. We asked for chop out this year from everyone. Just something, it didn’t have to be much, but some sort of input into game day, equipment etc. Currently it’s the same blokes doing everything every week and we are almost half way through the season. Operation ‘spread the load’

To the boys that aren’t playing tomorrow, there is a game on at 3 and one of those teams will be wearing the casuals colours. Let’s get down and have a beer and watch the 1’s boys go around. I will be there nice and early marking the ground so if you want to share some brekky beers with me feel free. Probs getting there about 12:00.

Finally, and on a positive note, thank you for those that have paid your fees. To those that haven’t made a contribution as yet please keep it front of mind over the next couple of weeks.

Rest assured the communication channels are going to get a lot better from now on and this club will not see another forfeit!

Regards,

Corka
